9th Annual Tragedy Assistance Program Fundraiser Hosted by EOIR Raises $94,260


FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Sept. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The 9th Annual TAPS Golf Outing, hosted by EOIR Technologies, Inc., was a sellout event that raised $94,260 for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), bringing the 9-year total of funds raised up to $520,260.

TAPS is a 24/7 tragedy assistance resource for anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one. Since its start in 1994, TAPS has provided immediate and long-term emotional help, grief and trauma resources, and connections to community-based care, including mentoring programs and Good Grief camp, to more than 60,000 people grieving the death of a service member.

There were 31 sponsors this year with 3 top sponsors: EOIR, RDM Engineering, and Leidos. In addition, EOIR collected over 50 gift baskets, gift cards, and merchandise donations from local businesses for the raffle prizes, and General Dynamics Mission Systems sponsored professional golfer Christina Lecuyer who raised more thn $1,200 for the cause by challenging golfers at a hole. The winners were entered in a raffle for a signed Cal Ripken, Jr. baseball jersey.



TAPS family member Erin Yaggy, together with her daughter Elizabeth (Lizzy) spoke about her early days with TAPS more than 8 years ago and about the huge impact that the program has had on her and Lizzy's lives. Erin was joined by fellow TAPS family members Marie Campbell and Courtney Nyren who spoke about how TAPS has greatly improved the quality of their lives and helped them to overcome a number of challenging obstacles.
