POPin Finds Most Companies Struggle with Lack of Organizational Alignment, Inability to Manage Change

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- POPin today released the results of a new survey of CIOs and technology executives, which found that most companies still struggle with organizational alignment and change management.

According to the survey, only 35% of managers believe their staff is "well aligned" with new initiatives in lockstep with senior management. Survey findings illustrate why this management-employee disconnect creates discord throughout the organization, making it difficult to executive on a long-term strategy.

Case in point, 40% of respondents said technology initiatives failed for slow or reluctant adoption from end users, and 20% cited lack of "buy in" from senior management. Only 23% blamed the technology itself and only 17% cited budgetary issues.

In spite of this disconnect, 55% of respondents said they actually make it a priority to improve employee productivity. However, an alarming 39% of executives listen to employee concerns only "as they arise."

Moreover, 60% of respondents said they have "no solid process in place" to communicate with disparate departments, and 8% said communication with other departments is "not effective." Only 33% of respondents said they have a solid communications infrastructure in place.

Similarly, only 31% of C-level executives said they have processes in place that enable them to take immediate action to provide employees with the tools they need to do their jobs. 53% said they have "some processes" in place but could be more nimble in this area, and 16% said they have "limited resources" to react to employee suggestion in a timely manner.

"Businesses today face a crisis of organizational alignment," said Brian Anderson, Chief Marketing Officer of POPin. "As the speed of technology innovation and adoption continues to accelerate, businesses have proven themselves completely unable to manage change and alignment a workforce in support of key organizational initiatives. Our research continues to show that that crowdsourcing techniques are an indispensable tool in helping management engage with employees to ensure the success of corporate initiatives.

"We are excited to create a new market category for Initiative Success Management that responds to these widespread business challenges to institutionalize a proven process for organizational alignment," added Mr. Anderson.
