TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco 2016 Announces Startup Battlefield Competitors

TechCrunch today announced 23 participants for the Startup Battlefield at this year's TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco. Each year, the conference brings together tech titans, noted thought leaders and experienced entrepreneurs to offer unique insights into industry topics-of-the-moment. At the very heart of Disrupt, Startup Battlefield launches promising, under-the-radar companies to a global audience on tech's biggest stage.

From Monday, Sept. 12 through Wednesday, Sept 14, Startup Battlefield gathers founders to demo their new, unseen products live on the Disrupt stage in front of a panel of Silicon Valley's finest, including venture capitalists, notable tech influencers and tried and tested innovators. This year's Battlefield judges include the best and brightest of the startup and venture world, including Susan Wojcicki, Susan Lyne (News - Alert) and Scott Belsky.

"TechCrunch's Startup Battlefield is a platform unlike any other, offering a stage for startups to display the future of technology and its impact on business," said Ned Desmond, COO of TechCrunch. "We're pleased to announce this year's group of talented competitors and look forward to watching them engage with our judges, speakers, Disrupt audience and online viewers across the globe."

Since 2007, 610 Battlefield startups have raised a collective $6.1 billion in funding after launching on stage, with a total of 76 exits. Notable competitors to have launched on the Battlefield stage include major brands like Mint, Yammer, Dropbox and Fitbit. Recently, Snapchat announced its plans to acquire mobile search startup Vurb for over $100 million and Beam, an interactive game streaming service that lets viewers play along with streamers as they watch who won TechCrunch Disrupt NY Startup Battlefield this year, was acquired by Microsoft.

The Battlefield winner will be announced at the closing awards ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 4:20 p.m. PT. The winner walk away with a $50,000 prize, the coveted Disrupt Cup and a bright future.
