Advice to ITT Tech Students: Don't Give Up!SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 9, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the wake of the closure of ITT Tech this week, Western Governors University President Scott Pulsipher offered some advice to the more than 40,000 students who were displaced: "Earning your degree is one of the most important things you'll do, and it has the potential to change your life—and your family's life—forever. There are many great college options for busy adults, so take the time to do your homework and find a school that will help you achieve your goals. Whatever you do, don't give up!" President Pulsipher urged students affected by the closure to avoid panicking and take a thoughtful approach to making a decision about continuing their education. He recommends that ITT students who choose to continue their education be sure to ask these questions:
"There are a number of great options for busy adults, so be sure to review the options and ask friends, associates, and employers to help you in your decision-making," Pulsipher said. "We know that WGU is a great fit for students who have mastered competencies and are motivated to accelerate to a degree. Nearly 1,000 current students at WGU and more than 400 graduates have attened ITT at some point in their career." To support students who wish to transfer to WGU and ease the financial burden of this transition, WGU will waive the university's $65 application fee as well as the first-term resource fee of $145. In the coming days, WGU will announce a special scholarship program for ITT Tech students. For more information, go to www.wgu.edu/ITT. "As a nonprofit, competency-based university with a mission to make quality higher education more accessible to busy adults, our thoughts are with the ITT Tech students, and we hope to help many of them through this difficult time. And we say, don't abandon your goals—your perseverance will be rewarded."
