ERI Founder John Shegerian Addresses 'Closing the Information Gaps' at Electronics Goes Green 2016 Conference in Berlin

John Shegerian, Chairman, CEO and co-founder of Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation's leading recycler of electronic waste and the world's largest cybersecurity-focused hardware destruction company, was a featured panelist today at the Electronics Goes Green (EGG) conference in Berlin.

Speaking as part of a panel of experts contributing to a discussion on "Closing the Information Gaps," Shegerian described ERI's vision of "Taking the Circular Economy of Recycling Electronics to the Next Level" and shared the stage with co-panelists representing Coolrec BV (Netherlands); iFixit (News - Alert) (Germany and USA); Demontage- und Recycling-Zentrum D.R.Z. (Austria); and Murata Electronics Europe (Netherlands). The discussion was moderated by Gergana Dimitrova of Fraunhofer (News - Alert) IZM.

The EGG Conference, organized by Fraunhofer IZM with support from the Technical University of Berlin, is attended by forward-thinking global experts from the realms of science and industry to create a global think-tank aimed at improving and enhancing the sustainability of the electronics sector. The event covers a wide range of aspects of green electronics, electronics recycling, and th shift to a circular economy.

During the discussion, Shegerian diagrammed the circular economy of electronics recycling for the audience and described the optimal contributions of each of the participants of the circle - from manufacturers to retailers to end users to recyclers, refurbishers and beyond.

"It is an absolute honor and privilege to share insights and the stage with sustainability-minded and socially responsible organizations such as my esteemed fellow panelists," said Shegerian. "The EGG event is vitally important because it gives science and industry a chance to act as sounding boards for one another and share best practices so we can proactively discuss what is working around the world and what can improve."

Shegerian will be on the EGG stage again later in the week when he presents the conference-closing keynote, "The Insecurity of Everything: Balancing Green Responsibility with the Need for True CyberSecurity Data Destruction."
