Transition Networks to Showcase New Ways to Maximize Network Infrastructure at 2016 BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition

Transition Networks, Inc., a leading provider of innovative, high-value data network integration solutions, announced today it will display a range of products designed to help companies extend the life of their existing network cabling infrastructure - from fiber optics to coax cable - at the 2016 BICSI (News - Alert) Fall Conference and Exhibition taking place in San Antonio, TX, from September 11-15. The company will be in booth #516.

During the conference, Transition Networks' (News - Alert) GlenNiece Kutsch will present on "Delivering PoE and Ethernet over Existing Cabling Infrastructure," as part of the conference's "What's New, What's it Do?" speaker series. Kutsch will speak about delivering PoE and Ethernet over cable types other than traditional Ethernet cable, including a discussion of how to provision PoE+ over coax and 2-wire telephone cable among other use cases.

"Information and communications technology teams are expected to support higher data rate applications more than ever before, which can have a dramatic impact on their network infrastructure," said Curt Carlson, Senior Product Manager for Transition Networks. "There's tremendous value in building flexibility into the network cabling plant, and we want to show the BICSI attendees some practical ways to accomplish that."

In addition to the presentation, Transition Networks will feature the following products in its booth:

6-Slot ION Chassis: Transition Networks' most recent product launch, the 6-Slot ION Chassis is a rack-mountable, 1RU media converter chassis designed as a stand-alone system for low-density, space-constrained media conversion applications. The new chassis is part of the ION Multi-Service Integration Platform and accepts any of the ION family of slide-in media converter cards, including Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet or time division multiplexing (TDM). The ION media conversion solutions flexibly integrate copper nd fiber cable plants, extending networks within a building, between buildings or throughout a campus. The 6-slot ION chassis can also be managed via the ION Management Module.

Ethernet Over Coax Extender With PoE+: For organizations upgrading their analog CCTV security systems to IP-based systems or connecting new wireless access points or other Ethernet equipment to their networks, Transition Networks offers its Ethernet Over Coax Extender With PoE+. These extenders leverage the existing CCTV coax infrastructure to extend the Ethernet network and provide power to IP devices at remote locations, saving time and money compared to installing new cable. The Ethernet over Coax Extender With PoE+ allows near Gigabit Ethernet communication and full PoE+ power to the end-device, and supports either copper or fiber Ethernet connections.

IP Over 2-Wire Ethernet Extender: Transition Networks' IP Over 2-Wire Ethernet Extender allows deployment of new IP technology or extends the reach of an Ethernet network in situations where there is existing 2-wire telephone cable (non-UTP 24AWG) available. These extenders are used in pairs, with a local and remote device at each end of the cable, and can extend their Ethernet signal at line rate of 100Mbps for up to 200 meters. The IP Over 2-Wire Ethernet Extender reduces cost in comparison to installing new Ethernet cabling, increases time to service, and avoids the potential disruption of hazardous materials in older buildings.

Scorpion-USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Adapter: The Scorpion-USB 3.0 is a USB-to-Ethernet fiber network adapter that enables laptops, tablets, desktops or other devices to connect to a fiber-based Ethernet network via a USB port. The adapter features a fiber Gigabit Ethernet port, LC or SC, or a dual-speed small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver, along with a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connector that is backward compatible to USB 2.0. Scorpion-USB adapters are designed for organizations, such as government agencies, that may prohibit or restrict copper or wireless networks due to security concerns, or enterprise organizations that want to capitalize on the bandwidth of fiber at or near the desktop.
