"Consumers are often looking for easier and more convenient ways to control appliances in their home, and this includes window air conditioners," said Mark Evans, product manager, room air products. "Using the connected window air conditioner channel, you can decrease waste of cooling an empty room and increase comfort when you're at home."

In only a short period of time since launching the GE Appliances connected window air conditioner, hundreds of owners have already started using the GE Comfort app to manage their unit, giving it a 4.2 Star rating for its capabilities, along with praising the simple installation and quiet settings of the product.

The AEC12AV 12,050 Btu nd AED10AV 10,000 Btu models already allow consumers to easily:

  • Create their own cooling schedule
  • Monitor and control their air conditioner from anywhere
  • Choose from available cooling modes
  • Control multiple units from one app
  • Get reminders to clean or change the air conditioner's filter

IFTTT members can concoct recipes, or directions, for how their apps will respond to certain circumstances. GE Appliances has taken the lead and already created a few recipes on the GE Appliances Window AC Channel that IFTTT users can copy:

  • Ask Alexa to set AC mode
  • Dim all lights when energy saving mode is selected
  • Add reminders to calendars if air filter needs replacing
  • Receive a notification if fan-only mode is selected
  • Set temperature
  • Track air filter alerts in a Google (News - Alert) spreadsheet

"We are thrilled to welcome the GE Appliances window air conditioner as the latest addition to their suite of smart appliances now available on IFTTT," said Anne Mercogliano, VP of marketing for IFTTT. "This integration only further extends the functionality and value of GE Appliances' world-class product lineup and allows customers to enjoy even more control over their connected lives."
