ARIA Wins 'MANO Software of the Year' Honors at 2016 Network Virtualization AwardsARIA, an open source and open governance reference implementation of a TOSCA application orchestrator, won the "MANO Software of the Year" award at the Network Virtualization Industry Awards 2016. The event organized by Informa was held in Madrid, Spain, in June to highlight excellence in the telecom industry and recognize outstanding technologies developed for the NFV and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) industry in the prior 12 months. The "MANO Software of the Year" award honors companies who have made a significant impact in facilitating the development of NFV through their contributions of "Management and Orchestration" (MANO) software. ARIA (Agile (News - Alert) Reference Implementation of Automation) is an open source and open governance reference implementation of a TOSCA orchestrator, developed by GigaSpaces and open sourced earlier this year. GigaSpaces (News - Alert) "seeded" the GitHub software repository with the code for Cloudify, the company's own orchestration software, now open sourced as ARIA's initial implementation proposal. The ARIA community was formed to advance adoption of the TOSCA standard (Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications) and accelerate the industry's journey towards application orchestration in cloud environments. TOSCA is a cloud-agnostic templating model developed by the OASIS Foundation. ARIA was created for application vendors to test TOSCA models on an easy-to-use, free and open source orchestrator. It is also intended to advance the adoption of the specification by enterprises and telecoms. More at http://www.ariatosca.org/. GigaSpaces' Commitment to Open Source Software GigaSpaces is an active participant in the TOSCA Technical Committee with 10 employees serving as members. In addition, Noa Kuperberg, senior software engineer at GigaSpaces, is co-chair of the Instance Moel workgroup, tasked with providing a complete representation of the state of a TOSCA service template deployment. Jeremy Hess, Cloudify community and growth manager at GigaSpaces, is co-chair of the Technical Marketing and Education ad-hoc, which is building a community around the standard. ARIA is only one open source contribution by GigaSpaces. In July, GigaSpaces joined The Linux Foundation (News - Alert), the nonprofit advancing professional open source management for mass collaboration. The Linux Foundation unites thousands of developers across hundreds of global companies and open source projects. Other open source projects the company supports include:
