Tampa General Among Healthcare's Most Wired Hospitals

TAMPA, Fla., July 28, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For the fourth consecutive year, Tampa General Hospital has been named one of the nation's Most Wired Hospitals by the American Hospital Association's (AHA) Health Forum.

Technology is improving the efficiency of the delivery of care and patient interactions, according to the 18th Annual Health Care's Most Wired® survey, released by the AHA Health Forum. The survey and benchmarking study measures the use and adoption of information technology among hospitals nationwide. It's published annually by Health & Hospitals Networks.

The survey showed Most Wired hospitals are using technology to build patient engagement with the individual's lifestyle in mind, which includes electronic access to their patient care team.

Accordingto the survey, 26 percent of Most Wired organizations offer E-visits through a mobile application.

Earlier this year the hospital launched TGH Virtual Care that allows people to use an app on their smartphone, tablet or computer to link live to a Florida-licensed and board-certified physician any time day or night. It provides medical services to patients using a secure online video under an agreement with American Well, a telehealth technology services company.  Common medical conditions treated include sinusitis, sore throat, cough, the flu, rashes, allergies, pink eye, urinary tract infections, bronchitis, and asthma. Doctors review the patient's clinical information, devise a treatment plan, prescribe medications, and suggest follow-up care. To access the service, download the app from the iTunes or Android app store or from the TGH website https://www.tgh.org/services/virtual-care.

The hospital's new mobile app, TGH GO, went live in May. It allows consumers to conveniently access information like finding a doctor, locations for getting care, and how to find their destination inside the hospital. The app also includes access to TGH Virtual Care, MyChart, TGH Health News, and classes and events.
