Tower Cloud Supplies Atlanta Students’ Increasing Connection Demands for Education and Entertainment

Partnership with Elauwit Networks provides consistent and reliable service for city’s West Midtown student community   St. Petersburg, FL, and Atlanta, GA, July 27, 2016 – Expanding its presence into the multi-dwelling student apartment market, Tower Cloud has partnered with Elauwit Networks, a national provider of managed telecommunications services, to provide reliable and consistent internet service to Westmar Student Lofts in Atlanta.

This is the tenth partnership that brings Tower Cloud’s communications infrastructure expertise to the demanding student market, according to Joe Patton, vice president, sales and business development for Tower Cloud.

These partnerships are becoming more and more crucial to schools as students’ connectivity needs have rapidly increased.

Today, students rely on internet connectivity for virtually every academic activity – to download textbooks, conduct research and connect with their peers for classroom projects. And that doesn’t even include “downtime” interests such as streaming video and music. Students age 18-34 spend at least 3.6 hours a day on their smart phone and 41 percent of college students are connected on three devices at any one time, according to eCampusNews.com.

“Bandwidth is an ever increasing need to fulfill, students who grew up online expect reliable connectivity at all times,” Patton said. “We’re providing a very robust pipe to the property to ensure that reliability and consistency of service.”   Westmar Student Lofts provides housing for Georgia Tech, Georgia State University and other Atlanta academic communities. The 1,200-unit development offers premium amenities for students in the West Midtown area of Atlanta.

Tower Cloud serves as the backhaul provider for Elauwit’s service to Westmar. Their knowledge of the area and its local fiber network provides solid, stable, consistent and strong broadband signals to this high-demand population.

“They needed a completely new wireless network throughout the property,” said Bruce Sanders, chief marketing officer of Elauwit. “Consistency and quality of the bandwidth is very important to us, as well as to our customers. This property had received a lot of complaints about internet services in the past. Now, those complaints have gone away and leasing is up.”   Students have unique needs and require bandwidth that is available as they need it throughout the day, with abnormal peak usage occurring between 10 p.m. and 2-3 a.m. as students research academic assignments—and stream video content.

“Because of our knowledge of the area and our local fiber network, we are able to provide reliable and consistent services,” Patton said. “Helping students access what they need, when they need it; and helping Elauwit provide for its customers in the most reliable way.”   “It’s important that we stay consistent throughout the day,” Sanders said. “We have had zero problems since partnering with Tower Cloud.”   About Elauwit Networks: Based in Charleston, S.C., Elauwit is a privately held company with interests in technology and media.
