Healthgrades Announces 2016 Women's Care Award Recipients

Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals, announced the recipients of three awards for women's care: the 2016 Healthgrades Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award™; the 2016 Healthgrades Labor and Delivery Excellence Award™; and the 2016 Healthgrades Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award™. These awards recognize hospitals across the country that have demonstrated superior outcomes in important components of women's healthcare services.

To help consumers evaluate and compare hospital performance, Healthgrades analyzed patient outcome data for all patients (all-payer data) made available by 17 individual states from 2012-2014. This data was used to identify the highest performing hospitals in women's health, and revealed discrepancies in quality between hospitals distinguished as Healthgrades award recipients and hospitals that were not.

A new Healthgrades report also issued today, "Driving Patient Acquisition, Engagement and Loyalty for Women's Services," examines the factors required for health systems to successfully engage female consumers. The report highlights hospitals that are effectively connecting with women by identifying and communicating with the right patients, using content to inform, educate, and differentiate women's services with an omni-channel strategy.

"Health systems that have had the most success in engaging female healthcare consumers identify the right patients and reach them by developing and sharing content that supports, informs, and educates," said Evan Marks, chief strategy officer, Healthgrades. "Because women are the most highly engaged healthcare consumers, health systems that effectively differentiate their women's care services in their marketing efforts can create a positive affinity that has invaluable long-term effects."
