"MetroPlus' growth is an important component of NYC Health + Hospitals' transformation plan," said Dr. Ram Raju, President and CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals. "I congratulate MetroPlus on reaching this milestone."

Dr. Arnold Saperstein, President and CEO of the health plan, presented Ms. Barroso with her member ID card at a special ceremony to mark the occasion. Ms. Barroso is a single mother who was looking for a more affordable health care option when she discovered that MetroPlus had just become available on Staten Island. She decided to explore the new option and was quickly enrolled as the "half-million member" of MetroPlus.

"New Yorkers have long benefitted from the high quality of service MetroPlus provides. We are grateful that Staten Islanders like Ms. Barroso are now able to enroll in this affordable plan," said Dr. Saperstein. "I take enormous pleasure and prideĀ in welcoming Ms. Barroso as our half-a-millionth member."

The public awareness campaign includes videos, social media, digital and radio advertising. See Ms. Barroso's story here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LHtDn3GHWE

"I feel that MetroPlus can offer a lot to Staten Islanders and to all New Yorkers who may not realize how affordable ealth insurance can be. As far as ending up the 500,000th member, well that's just a great bonus," said Ms. Barroso.

Traditionally offering coverage in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens, MetroPlus added Staten Island to its service area this year for its Marketplace and Essential Plans. The MetroPlus Essential Health Plan is the lowest cost health plan online and is available in all five boroughs.

MetroPlus offers access to an extensive network of participating physicians, with providers in over 30,000 sites across the City, including more than 12,000 primary care physicians, specialists, affiliates of NYC Health + Hospitals and community-based providers.

New Yorkers who are employees or retirees of New York City government agencies plus other local entities such as CUNY and City libraries may also choose MetroPlus Gold under their employee benefit package. MetroPlus Gold features no premiums plus no deductibles and no or low co-pays for most in-network services.

MetroPlus' small business plans that include health and dental coverage are available through the State's Small Business Marketplace. To be eligible, businesses may have no more than 100 full-time employees and plans cover all employees who work 30 or more hours per week. Businesses can enroll at any time during the year.

"MetroPlus plans combine low prices and high quality to give New Yorkers the insurance they need to protect their families," says Seth Diamond, Chief Operating Officer of MetroPlus. "We offer plans for every budget in a large network and with high rates of customer satisfaction."
