American Council on Education Strengthens Compliance Reporting, People Operations with UltiPro

Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions in the cloud, announced today that the Washington, D.C.-based American Council on Education (ACE), the major coordinating body for the nation's colleges and universities, has deployed UltiPro® to increase compliance reporting capabilities, improve the employee experience, and simplify HR processes companywide.

ACE, founded in 1918, represents more than 1,600 college and university presidents and the executives at related associations. ACE convenes representatives from all sectors of higher education to respond with one clear voice on vital issues affecting institutions and students, and influence public policy through advocacy, research, and program initiatives. ACE also plays a key role in expanding the higher education leadership pipeline and is committed to improving access to postsecondary education for both traditional and nontraditional students, and helping colleges and universities build the capacity to ensure that those students can succeed.

Prior to going live on UltiPro, the ACE HR team relied on just one employee power-user to pull reports and to utilize the capabilities of the organization's complex HCM solution. With ACE's growing HR team unable to use that system, ACE sought to refresh the HCM experience for the entire organization. ACE went live with UltiPro in June 2015, and enjoyed immediate improvements in compliance reporting, Web features for employees, and streamlined HCM operations.

"As a government contractor, ACE is accountable for rigorous compliance, and UltiPro's real-time, easily accessible data gives me complete confidence in our reporting," said Sonya Williams, vice president and chief human resources officer for ACE. "In the past, we could spend up to five days collecting the necessary data, but now, we can produce the required reports in five minutes. With everything at our fingertips, UltiPro is making our lives a lot easier."

ACE's progress with compliance is just one aspect of how UltiPro has transformed the organization's overall approach to people management.

"HR is no longer the gatekeeper for pay and beefits information," said Williams. "Employees are ecstatic about accessing their information on their own-whenever they want it, wherever they are. UltiPro is turning our people into happier employees, and, as a result, helping to drive our mission. We know that a happy employee builds stronger customer relationships, approaches work with greater energy, and makes more of a contribution."

Widespread employee satisfaction with UltiPro has led to high adoption of the solution, and enabled HR to streamline HCM operations.

"Long gone are the days when we collected employee and manager signatures for payroll, and had the spreadsheets manually delivered to Payroll," said Williams. "The payroll process that took a week to complete is now finished in less than a day. Likewise, when employees need to change their personal information, they can enter their information directly into UltiPro. Paperwork is no longer filled out and passed through multiple hands before being manually entered into the system. Consequently, UltiPro is helping us mitigate the risk of human error."

"UltiPro is designed to help organizations transition from antiquated, paper-based processes to an environment that is nimble and metrics driven," said Chris Phenicie, chief sales officer at Ultimate. "We are pleased that UltiPro is allowing ACE's HR team to focus on the business of managing people and that ACE employees feel more energized about their work."
