Broadcast Catch-up Stimulates German OTT Market - a New Report from Rethink Technology ResearchThis Report and Forecast shows Germany as a hotbed of OTT competition, drawing from the strength of broadcast catch-up, itself driven by the early introduction of HbbTV in Germany from 2009. This has stimulated greater uptake in TV Everywhere and in pure play paid OTT services. The result is a thriving community of OTT services, unlike anything else in Europe, rife with competition and innovation. Rethink has built a database of the top 250 global pay TV operators and their OTT video efforts, along with pure play SVoD suppliers and broadcast catch-up services. We include data on key technology providers, service pricing and content, current and future penetration. We call this Rethink OTT Intelligence (ROI) and have just updated all 10 German profiles entries, and written our first forecast for Germany. Each country in Europe is very different. Germany is considered a laggard in pay TV - partly due to the high quality of broadcast TV. The arrival of HbbTV has changed this, making consumers aware of what can be done with video over the internet. This report has been compiled by Thomas Flanagan, ROI analyst, and forecasts that from 72.9 million regular OTT video users at the end of 2015, this total will rise to 116.9 million by 2020, with many of the 37.5 million German households using several OTT services. The report is 60 pages long, costs $650 and can e bought at: Broadcaster Catch-up stimulates German OTT Market About Rethink Technology Research Rethink is expert in technology; Wireless, Video and the Internet of Things.
