Atlassian President Jay Simons to Keynote Venture Atlanta 2016 ConferenceJay Simons, president of Atlassian, a team collaboration software company, will keynote this year's Venture Atlanta conference. Representing those few companies that have gone public in the last year, Simons will share his experience and lessons learned in leveraging a disruptive business model to build a profitable, multi-billion dollar company. The highly anticipated, annual two-day Venture Atlanta showcase event will be held November 2-3 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. Profitable since 2005 and now worth over $5 billion on the open market, Atlassian grew its business without a traditional sales team. Joining Atlassian in 2008 and currently responsible for all revenue-generating activities, Simons has contributed significantly to the company's pioneering efforts to develop a high-velocity, low-touch sales model. He has overseen the company's global expansion, introduction of a disruptive approach to "freemium," whereby the company donates all proceeds to a charitable cause, and its growing worldwide customer community programs. Simons has more than 18 years of experience in the software industry. He began his career at Plumtree Software, where he held a variety of senior marketing and sales roles. Significantly, he oversaw Plumtree's expansion throughout Europe and Asia-Pacific. When Plumtree was acquired by BEA (News - Alert) Systems in 2005, Simons became vice president of Marketing for BEA Systems, which was acquired by Oracle in 2008.
