U.S. Cellular Offering 50 Percent Off Smartphones and Unlimited Contract Buy-Out

To kick-start the back-to-school season, U.S. Cellular (News - Alert) is offering half off smartphones on new activations with Shared Connect plans. Customers who port their number, purchase Device Protection + and trade in their device - even one with a cracked screen - will receive a promotional card equaling 50 percent of the value or $336, whichever is less, of their chosen device. Current customers will also receive 24 GB of bonus data when adding an additional smartphone line to their account. U.S. Cellular is also continuing to offer an unlimited buy-out of customers' current contracts after they submit their final bill from their carrier.

"We keep hearing about buy one, get one offers, but we wanted to remove the obstacle of needing to buy multiple devices to get a great deal," said Joe Settimi, vice president of marketing for U.S. Cellular. "We want our customers to have the best smartphone to meet their needs, enough data to use that device to the fullest, and a high-quality network to use their data whether they are in a large or small city or rural community. When you combine all of that, our customers have a great wireless experience at a better value than Verizon (News - Alert) or AT&T."

U.S. Cellular is also offering the LG G Pad F 8.0 for a penny, and for a limited time, any customer who refers a friend to U.S. Cellular will receive an extra 1 GB of bonus data every month for 12 months. This supplements the company's ongoing referral program which rewards both the current customer and the referred friend with $50 if the friend chooses to activate a smartphone on a Shared Connect plan.
