From Bosch to Trimple - Technavio Announces Top Nine Vendors in the Global Laser Distance Meter Market from 2016 to 2020

Technavio has announced the top nine leading vendors in their recent global laser distance meter (LDM) market report. Vendors are identified based on their revenue and market dominance in terms of experience, geographical presence, product portfolio, financials, and R&D.

Competitive vendor landscape

The global LDM market is driven by constant upgrading of both hardware and software. The market has already consolidated with a few players, such as Danaher, Hexagon, Stanley Black & Decker (News - Alert), and Bosch, dominating the market. "Vendors are looking to position their products based on unique selling propositions such as range, integration with smartphones using low-power Bluetooth 4.0, sensor upgrading, and software integration using apps," says Sunil Kumar Singh, a lead analyst at Technavio for research on computing devices.

In the LDM market, vendors are recording sales mainly through distribution networks. Therefore, a widely present distribution network is pertinent to make a market presence and drive sales. Many of the LDM vendors are into other businesses related to measurement and alignment like sensing equipment and other important tools for the construction sector. So, the implementation of technology they acquire is not limited to LDMs. This makes it difficult for a new vendor to enter specifically into this market segment.
