Pledgeling and the American Diabetes Association® Support Children with Diabetes Through Mobile Engagement

VENICE, Calif., June 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Pledgeling announced today the launch of The American Diabetes Association's (Association) first mobile video integrated giving experience to support donations that allow kids with diabetes to attend summer camp. Earlier this year, the Association launched its Team Tackle initiative, bringing together 45 current, former and aspiring professional football players with the Association to tackle diabetes and help send children with diabetes to summer camp. The collaboration between the Association and Pledgeling will deliver an enhanced experience to individuals who donate to the "Become a Camp Champion" campaign.

Supporters of the Association's "Become a Camp Champion" campaign will immediately receive a thank you video from a Team Tackle member directly on their phone. Each donor will also receive a monthly video with an update on the impact of their contribution and the program. The ability to deliver shareable and engaging video content to mobile devices gives the Association's donors the opportunity to be a part of the mission on the personal device of their choosing.

"The next evolution of charitable engagement is occurring before our eyes on mobile," says James Citron, CEO of Pledgeling. "Progressive organizations like the American Diabetes Association realize that demonstrating their impact and raising money for their important cause requires a mobile-first communication strategy for both existing and future donors. Were honored to work with the American Diabetes Association to help them provide the life-changing experience of camp to more children living with diabetes."

  • According to Tech Impact, "75 percent of donors indicated that nonprofit videos are more compelling when deciding whether or not to donate."
  • A recent study of 100,000 fundraising campaigns by Indiegogo found "Campaigns with a video raise 4 times more funds than campaigns without one."

"We're working with our Team Tackle players to give children with or at risk for diabetes the life- changing experience of camp," said Kelly Mueller, national director of camps at the American Diabetes Association. "Children who participate in American Diabetes Association camps gain the skills and confidence they need to manage their diabetes in a safe environment while participating in traditional camp activities and forming lifelong friendships."

To make a donation, visit www.diabetes.org/campchampion or text the word CAMP to 91065.

Throughout the summer, Team Tackle players will be visiting American Diabetes Association Diabetes Camps across the country.
