Apteligent Data Report Focuses on Google I/O and Android Ecosystem

Apteligent, the leader in user-centered mobile app metrics, today announces its most recent data report, "Monthly Data Report: Google IO May 2016." The new report analyzes the Android (News - Alert) ecosystem by reviewing fragmentation, Google Fi device usage, crashes that are isolated to specific devices and operating systems (OSs), Android TV versus Apple (News - Alert) TV usage, and which device manufacturers are the quickest to push out Android updates to their users.

In fact, its operating system distribution is now similar to iOS. Key findings from the report include:

• Android is nolonger fragmented
  • 93% of all Android traffic comes from KitKat, Lollipop, and Marshmallow, which is relatively similar to iOS, where 97% of traffic comes from iOS 8 or iOS 9.
• Apple TV is used twice as much as Android TV
  • Android TV is used much more consistently throughout the week vs. Apple TV, which sees 30% spikes on the weekends.
  • Android TV apps are twice as stable compared to regular Android apps.
• Android manufacturer update speed analysis reveals:
  • The fastest manufacturers: Samsung (News - Alert), LG, Sony, and HTC
  • The slowest manufacturers: Amazon, Motorola, and ZTE
