MIPI Alliance Welcomes Synopsys as a Promoter Member


Appointment Brings Synopsys onto MIPI Alliance Board of Directors to Help Guide Future Direction of Device Interface Technologies PISCATAWAY, NJ, and BERLIN, June 14, 2016 - The MIPI® Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, today announced that Synopsys, Inc. has been approved as a Promoter Member.



Synopsys has been a very active member of MIPI Alliance for more than 10 years. As a Promoter Member it gains a voting seat on the MIPI Alliance Board of Directors to help the organization guide the future direction of device interface technologies.

With the appointment, effective immediately, Synopsys joins Intel, Nokia, Samsung Electronics, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba on the board.


Hezi Saar, co-chair of the MIPI Alliance Marketing Working Group and staff manager for product marketing at Synopsys, will represent Synopsys on the board.

“Synopsys is honored to join the MIPI Board of Directors as a Promoter Member,” said John Koeter, vice president of marketing for IP and prototyping at Synopsys. “As the leading provider of MIPI IP and a long-time member of the MIPI Alliance, we will continue to collaborate with Alliance members to help drive development of specifications that enable the design community to implement the required functionality for their mobile applications and beyond.” Joel Huloux, chairman of the board at MIPI Alliance, welcomed Synopsys and acknowledged the company for its contributions.

“Synopsys has participated in numerous MIPI Alliance working groups, helping the organization craft specifications that address a wide range of interface needs in a device,” Huloux said. “Synopsys has also participated in collaborative efforts with external standards groups to expand the applicability of MIPI Alliance specifications to new markets. As MIPI Alliance continues to pioneer interface specifications for mobile and vertical industries such as automotive and the Internet of Things, the expertise and leadership Synopsys provides will help us meet our goals.” Promoter members are elected to their positions by the MIPI Alliance board and have a two-year term and a voting seat on the board for the duration of the term. Promoters can be reelected to additional terms. With the Synopsys appointment, MIPI Alliance now has two Promoter members. Toshiba has served as a Promoter since 2012.
