Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Conducts First-Ever Live, Online Auction

While everyone loves attending fun, charity auctions, they're not always a practical way for charities, whose supporters often live throughout the country, to raise money. Zadzy, which developed the first live-streaming platform for fundraising, recently teamed up with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to host the first-ever virtual fundraiser. The one-hour event raised more than $15,000 to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

Zadzy is a live-streaming platform purpose-built for fundraising and selling. Zadzy provides accessibility and convenience to potential supporters who would otherwise not be able to participate in local events.

"We are very excited to complete the first-ever virtual auction. This event gave supporters of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation the opportunity to unite for a cause with like-minded people, and enjoy an entertaining auction from the comfort of their own homes," said James D. Goodson, executive director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Orange (News - Alert) County Chapter. "The creativity of the online platform had a warm feeling of camaraderie and captured the feel of a live auction while accomplishing a significant fundraising goal."

"Zadzy is a one-of-a-kind platform that taps into the current appeal of live-streaming video," said Will Gardenswartz, CEO of Zadzy. "Charity events are one of Zadzy's many great applications. At the core of everything we do is the power of personality. When a person is present to tell the story, using video, live streaming and real-time messaging, the results are much better."

The Zadzy platform allows multiple users to login to a customized online auction that is hosted by a real person. The live streaming video enables the host to tell stories, show video and interact with attendees, bringing a personal touch the online environment.

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections, and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.

With no public funding, funds raised from the private sector provide a tremendous and critical lifeline to the more than 70,000 children around the world with cystic fibrosis. Today as a result of its dedication to research and finding a cure for CF, the average life expectancy of someone with cystic fibrosis is 41 years old, up from about 18 only 15 years ago.
