The driving force behind Swagger since it began in 2011, Tony Tam has been working in the API space for many years and believes that 2016 and beyond will be all about collaboration and API workflow. He is talking on how definition formats are enabling API workflow, starting with collaboration and design and moving all the way into development, test and eventually production deployment and monitoring. He is covering the Open API Initiative (OAI), launched November 2015, and why this group and open format are enabling this sort of workflow and tooling.

In November 2015, SmartBear-the sponsors of the Swagger Project-launched the OAI, donating the Swagger Specification to The Linux Foundation (News - Alert) to create an open approach to governing its evolution. In addition to SmartBear, founding members of the OAI include Google, IBM, Microsoft, Capital One, Intuit, PayPal (News - Alert), Apigee, 3Scale and Restlet. Ron Ratovsky, member of the OAI Technical Developer Committee and co-author of the Swagger 2.0 Specification, is discussing the meaning behind the move, a brief history of the specification and what is on the roadmap for the next version - 3.0.

Swagger is the leading API description format used by developers in almost every modern programming language and deployment environment to design and deliver APIs that fuel IoT, microservices and mobile applications in the connected world.
