Today's Forecast: 100% Chance of Cola Bubbles

Whether making plans or just chit-chat, most conversations since the dawn of time include the question "How's The Weather?" Now, Cola Inc. and The Weather Channel are working together to bring weather information and updates into the fast-paced and nimble-fingered world of mobile messaging. This is the first 3rd party integration launched into Cola's "messaging as OS" platform, which injects app-like functionality into the text stream via interactive 'Cola Bubbles',

"Cola was initially conceived as a platform, an 'operating system' for messaging, where 3rd party services and information are incorporated directly into the message stream, obviating the need to pogo-stick from messaging to other apps and back again," said David Temkin, CEO of Cola. "The Weather Channel is a ubiquitous, and incredibly popular destination online, across all platforms; using their rich and extremely reliable weather data to turn this essential conversation piece into an interactive bubble makes it easy to make plans with anyone, anywhere and be ready for any type of weather."

The interactive weather bubble, with data provided by The Weather Channel, allows any user to ask another "what's the weather like?" and receive live weather information about that person's location. The functionality is fun and informative, but especially shines in a group setting with multiple chat participants, for travel planning, or just to connect with friends who are far away.

"The weather plays a major role in our daily habits and various activities. We know that users want the most timely, accurate weather information possible and the Cola weather bubble allows users to share personalized, hyperlocal conditions with their contacts seamlessly and efficiently," said Jason Sinnarajah, vice president of business development at The Weather Company.

Cola combines the eae and immediacy of texting, with the precision and interactivity of an app; it is the only messaging app designed specifically for getting things done. Cola Bubbles make it easy to get input from everybody on your thread with a rich, interactive experience that can collect or deliver all the necessary information with a tap.

Cola is also a "Messaging OS" that allows third-party developers to create interactive bubbles of their own, incorporating services, applications, information and other tools within the Cola app. The company's mission is to make texting more actionable and efficient, providing access to the full functionality of your smartphone without ever leaving the conversation.

Cola is working with a select group of third-party developers as it nears completion of its SDK. The Weather Channel is the first collaborator to take advantage of Cola's platform to bring a new interactive bubble into the world's first messaging OS. New 3rd party & partner bubbles are expected to follow in the coming weeks, and the formal SDK program, open to all developers, will launch in late Spring 2016.
