Abine's Blur tracker blocker to white-list sites that block ad-blockers

BOSTON, May 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Abine, the online privacy company, which has helped millions of consumers to block billions of ad-network tracking attempts, will introduce Dynamic White-Listing for publishers known to block ad blockers in its Blur software today.

Blur's dynamic white-listing will automatically turn tracker blocking off by default at a growing number of news web sites and other sites that have installed technology to stop consumers browsing with ad-blockers from reading articles or accessing content.

For example, when consumers with Blur installed in their favorite browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, iOS, Android, Opera, and IE) visit sites like Forbes.com, instead of seeing this message:

"Thanks for coming to Forbes. Please turn off your ad blocker in order to continue. To thank you for doing so, we're happy to present you with an ad-light experience."

They will pass right through to the content with a simple red warning light showing that tracking protection has been turned off at Forbes.  If the visit a site that does not block trackers like CNN.com, they will see a green light indicating tracking protection is on.

Consumers, of course, are always the ones in control: they can always override anysetting on any site with a simple click.

"Blur's dynamic white-listing technology has always been used to provide consumers a smooth web browsing experience," said Rob Shavell, Abine co-founder.  "One difference between Blur tracking protection and Adblockers like Ghostery and Adblock Plus is that Blur is less of a blunt instrument – it tries to allow ads that don't track people across the web, and constantly anticipates what most consumers want when tracker blocking affects site functionality – for a blend of privacy protection and ease-of-use, rather than just on or off, black or white."

It is worth noting many people don't want to block all ads and hurt publishers but who simply do not wish to be tracked everywhere online without their permission.

Blur– which protects consumers passwords, payments, and privacy, includes dynamic tracking protection for free and is available to add to browsers and mobile devices here: https://www.abine.com/index.html

As the war between ad-blockers and publishers / advertisers heats up, Abine enables consumers to have both privacy and a smooth web browsing experience.  For publishers that choose to fight ad-blocking, it is a free market: each site can each decide if the loss of potential advertising revenue is worth blocking the blockers.
