TNS Launches Volte-Enabled Shared Registry Carrier ENUM ServiceA new Carrier ENUM model from Transaction Network Services (TNS (News - Alert)) is promising to help carriers reduce call setup times, resolve route lookup queries faster and relieve the headache associated with complex data management processes. TNS' Shared Registry Carrier ENUM is a hybrid solution that combines the benefits of a shared multi-tenant registry, private ENUM and a full national number portability database. Participating operators can resolve queries quicker within one shared registry rather than using the standard GSMA (News - Alert) distributed model that reaches out to the National Root ENUM service. Joe Lueckenhoff, Executive Vice President and General Manager of TNS' Telecommunication Services Division, said: "With our new solution, number portability is fully integrated meaning that carriers only need to place one query to one service. We offer a shared database between participating operators which leads to faster call setup times and improved subscriber satisfaction. If the terminating operator is a participant of our registry, the query can be resolved locally in just a few milliseconds. "We have completed a successful testing phase with two national tier 1 carriers who I am delighted to announce have now chosen to use our new Shared Registry Carrier ENUM solution going forward." The newly enhanced Carrier ENUM solution offers operators the choice between the standard GSMA model or the new shared registry option.
