Market Focus Conference on Touch at Display Week 2016 Explores Emerging Applications and the Future of the Touch Industry


CAMPBELL, Calif., April 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society for Information Display (SID), in collaboration with IHS, today announced the final program for its Market Focus Conference on Touch, part of the Business Track being held during Display Week 2016 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco (May 22-May 27).  The brightest minds in the touch technology industry will gather for the one-day event on May 24 to discuss the industry's latest developments.   

Leaders from key companies within the touch industry will discuss the future of the industry, ITO alternatives, advanced input nodes, and emerging applications, such as digital signage and automotive.  Calvin Hsieh, IHS Principal Analyst will begin the conference on, "The Future Status of the Touch Industry," delving into questions of financial challenges and 3D Touch; asking poignant questions on the technologies developing in touch and their consequential influence. Hsieh will also moderate the panel discussions following each of the three sessions:

Session 1: ITO Alternatives: Can Ag Nano, Metal Mesh and Printed Solutions increase Touch Panel Penetration? This session will discuss these new technologies and the future positioning in the market, specifically versus ITO-based products. Speakers include Canatu, Eastman Kodak Company, Nuovo Film Inc., UICO and UniPixel.

Session 2: Beyond Phones, Tablets and 2in1's: What's the Next Market for Touch?
As digital signage and automotive have offered new market opportunities, this session will examine more of these opportunities for innovation in a low margin business. The audience will hear from FlatFrog, IHS, Microsoft and SMART Technologies.

Session 3: Opportunities & Challenges for Emerging Input Modes 
Speakers from 3M, Cambridge Touch Technologies Inc, IHS, Intel and Synaptics Inc. will discuss how future user interfaces cn adapt and incorporate the variety of emerging input modes.
