TracFone® and Dress for Success® Partner for Second Year to Expand Success is Calling™ Program

MIAMI, March 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- TracFone®, one of America's leading no-contract cell phone service providers, and Dress for Success® are teaming up to expand the Success is Calling™ program. Piloted in 2015, Success is Calling is a program that provides women with the knowledge and resources to help them thrive during the interview process, with emphasis on the critical first step to employment – the phone interview.

Success is Calling(TM) graduates Fredericka Clarke, Simone Roberts and ShaVaughn Holloway all achieved gainful employment after participating in the pilot program developed by TracFone(R) and Dress for Success(R) that provides women with the knowledge and resources to help them excel during the interview process.

As a result of the Success is Calling program in 2015, the majority of the 300 graduates landed a job, and in 2016 the program is expected to reach twice as many women. To help support the program, throughout the month of April TracFone is donating 20 percent of its handset sales at Walmart, up to $525,000, to Dress for Success to equip women with the tools and skills needed to build successful, long-term careers.

"We're proud to partner with Dress for Success for a second year to provide more women with access to the Success is Calling program," said a representative from TracFone. "Phone interviews continue to be an integral part of the job interview process, so having proper phone interview training and a reliable cell phone is paramount."

According to a recent survey of HR managers and working professionals conucted by TracFone, an interview candidate's phone etiquette is increasingly critical to advancement in the interview process:

  • First Impressions Stick: 85 percent say that first impressions made via phone interviews follow the applicant through the entire interview process.
  • Phone Etiquette is Critical: 89 percent say a candidate with great phone etiquette will move up the consideration list faster than those without it.
  • Confidence Counts: 82 percent use phone interviews to gauge a candidate's confidence in their professional capabilities.
  • Key to Job Success: 82 percent say phone skills are key to landing and maintaining a job.

The Success is Calling curriculum focuses on interview skills and phone etiquette that helps prepare women as they search and interview for jobs – and will be offered to participants of Dress for Success' "Going Places Network" at 30 affiliate locations across the country. Upon completion of the program, TracFone is also providing each graduate with a smartphone and year of service for support as they prepare to enter the workforce.

"So many women excelled and found meaningful career paths as a result of the Success is Calling program last year," said Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success. "We're thrilled to team-up with TracFone again this year to expand the program, providing women with recruitment advice as well as the technology needed to attain successful employment."
