Fujitsu Collaborates with ONOS Industry Partners on Next Generation Central Office ArchitectureFujitsu, a leading provider of business, information technology, and communications solutions, today announced that it has successfully demonstrated CORD (Central Office Re-architected as a Data Center) implementation in both Enterprise and Residential proofs of concept pursued by the ONOS Project. CORD is a first of its kind initiative to enable connectivity services over metro area networks, using only open source software and disaggregated hardware. By combining open-sourced NFV, SDN, and the elasticity of commodity clouds, CORD now brings datacenter economics and service agility to the Telco Central Office - a critical need for network operators responding to ever-increasing bandwidth demands and service expectations.
