Fortscale Expands Executive Team as User Behavior Analytics Market Momentum Builds

Fortscale Security Ltd., the pioneer in autonomous, machine learning-based user behavior analytics systems, today announced key new executive hires in advance of the RSA (News - Alert) Conference later this month. Fortscale will exhibit at RSAC booth S1939, and will demonstrate its totally new generation of "rule-free" UBA software focused on ending insider threats. Fortscale is bolstering its leadership team with the addition of cybersecurity veteran Kurt Stammberger as chief marketing officer and Avi Legmann as senior vice president of business & corporate development.

"The User Behavior Analytics market took off in 2015 as companies realized quick returns on their investments in first-generation UBA technology," said Idan Tendler, founder & CEO, Fortscale. "But those first-generation UBA systems were pretty difficult to install and use. That's why we developed an entirely new generation of behavior analytics at Fortscale. There are no rules to set up. Fortscale models your users and systems autonomously, on-the-fly. Fortscale spots anomalous behavior more quickly, more accurately, and doesn't need nearly as much babysitting as traditional UBA's."

Mr. Stammberger has been a fixture in the security industry with a track record of launching pivotal startups. Starting his career at Lockheed and IBM (News - Alert) as a Scientific and Technical computing specialist, he's best known as the "father of the RSA Conference." He launched the event after joining RSA Data Security as its first marketing and sales leader - and employee #6 - in 1990. Stammberger helped launch RSA spinoff VeriSign and grew the RSA Conference to over 10,000 attendees before launching his own security-marketing agency in San Francisco.

More recently, Stammberger was at the center of the Sony hack, questioning the data behind the government's claim that North Korea masterminded the attack, when data from multiple independent intelligence firms more clearly implicated Sony insiders. Stammberger was SVP Marketing at Mocana (News - Alert), a pioner in Internet of Things security, and ran the marketing organizations at Proofspace (trusted timestamping) and Vimo (now getInsured.com). Stammberger is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Certified Product Manager (PMC), with a BS from Stanford in mechanical engineering and aeronautics. He holds an MS in management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow.

"It's been an honor to watch RSA Conference grow over the years and inspiring to see the evolution of cybersecurity and the innovation from the likes of Fortscale that propels the industry forward," said Kurt R. Stammberger, chief marketing officer, Fortscale. "This year, I'm particularly excited about RSA because of fundamental advances in machine learning as it applies to security, and particularly insider threats. Fortscale's software isn't just an incremental improvement - it's a totally new way of using behavior analytics to foil insider threats. It's quieter, more accurate, and a lot easier to work with in the SOC."

In addition to Mr. Stammberger, Fortscale also appointed Avi Legmann as senior vice president of business & corporate development. In his role, Mr. Legmann will serve as channel chief with a focus on driving revenue growth and extending Fortscale's market penetration through channel partners and sales. Mr. Legmann is a seasoned corporate strategist with 20 years of experience in technology and cybersecurity, most recently serving as SVP of business and corporate development at CounterTack. Mr. Legmann has also served as the managing director of Accelerate IT and the CEO of Onset  (News - Alert)Technology, as well as various CEO and senior VP roles in the industry.

Fortscale's continued momentum comes after a highly successful 2015. The company first came into the spotlight at RSA after being the only UEBA company to reach the finals of the prestigious 2015 Innovation Sandbox competition. The company has won numerous awards and has filed for U.S. patents for its Fortscale SMART Alerts™ technology.
