Dorsey continues to expand its Consumer Financial Services (CFS) practice with the additions of Eric Troutman, as a partner, plus four associates on his team. With a deep background in consumer financial services litigation, Troutman and his team will counsel clients on many aspects of litigation, regulatory compliance, product development and enforcement. Mr. Troutman is one of the country's most prominent Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) defense attorneys, having served as lead defense counsel on over 30 nationwide TCPA class actions and handled hundreds of individual TCPA cases.

Mr. Troutman is the second prominent addition to Dorsey's CFS practice in 2016. New Partner Jenny Lee, a veteran in consumer financial protection law, joined Dorsey in its Washington, D.C. office in January. Ms. Leerepresents banks and other financial services firms in government investigations, Congressional inquiries and litigation matters involving federal or state consumer financial statutes and implementing regulations. She also reviews high risk products and services and performs compliance control reviews and regulatory reviews in due diligence of corporate transactions or to assist in bank supervisory exams. Ms. Lee spent a number of years as an enforcement attorney at the CFPB where she led numerous investigations and enforcement actions and participated in supervision examinations.

In the past year, the Firm has added a total of eight new experienced lawyers to its CFS team - including Troutman and Lee - expanding the Firm's CFS team to over 20 lawyers. Dorsey's CFS practice is part of a firm-wide Banking Industry Group that includes over 250 attorneys covering a vast range of disciplines. The Firm will continue to grow the group in an effort to provide complex transactional and litigation financial services to its clients.

"We are very pleased that Eric and his team have joined Dorsey," noted Ken Cutler, Managing Partner of Dorsey & Whitney. "His deep experience and expertise in consumer financial services litigation will fit perfectly with our strong CFS practice and our strategic focus on serving the banking and financial services industry across our global platform."

While Mr. Troutman's practice focuses on serving as national counsel to banks and finance companies in defending TCPA cases, he has also helped spearhead the banking industry's push for TCPA clarity before the Federal Communications Commission and has assisted on numerous appeals addressing hot-button TCPA issues.

His practice also focuses on complex commercial and financial institution litigation, mortgage lending, and bankruptcy. Mr. Troutman's litigation experience includes practice in both state and federal courts, as well as bankruptcy and appellate matters.

Mr. Troutman joins Dorsey from Severson & Werson's Financial Services practice. He has a J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

"Eric is one of the country's top TCPA defense attorneys. In addition, Jenny Lee provides our clients with significant expertise and valuable insight in dealing with the CFPB. We are delighted to welcome Jenny, Eric, and his team to the Firm," said David Scheffel, Partner and Consumer Financial Services practice Co-chair.
