World Government Summit 2016: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Tweets "Dialogue of the Future"

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, launched the largest restructuring of the federal government in the administration's ten year history in an unprecedented act of eDiplomacy: by tweeting it on the first day of the fourth World Government Summit in Dubai.

The "Dialogue of the Future" live social media event detailed sweeping changes that include a "young and flexible" government, restructured ministries, and a plan to outsource public services to the private sector. He announced the appointment of a 22 year old female minister, the youngest in the world.

Newly created positions for a Minister of State for Happiness and Minister of State for Tolerance underscore a reenergized government focused on youth, innovation, health and public satisfaction.

"The Internet is a Human Rightand must be free for all," said Professor Nicholas Negroponte, founder of MIT's Media Lab, in a "Future of the Future" session, adding that, "The future is coming, but it won't be evenly distributed." Low-orbit satellites costing just US$10 billion could transform inequality of access created by competition.

  • The UAE Ministry of Economy and the US Department of Commerce entered into a MoU to promote mutual cooperation in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship.
