Catalyst Expands into China; Adds to Korea Office

DENVER, Jan. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Underscoring its longstanding leadership in and commitment to serving the Asia market, Catalyst today announced its expansion into China and its appointment of China expert Dan Whitaker as managing director, Greater China, to spearhead the company's sales and operations. In addition, Catalyst announced the growth of its Korea office with the addition of Junghun Lee, who will serve as Catalyst Korea's business development manager.

Catalyst designs, hosts and services the world's fastest and most powerful document repositories for large-scale discovery and regulatory compliance.

Catalyst has long been recognized as an e-discovery industry leader in Asia and the Pacific. It has maintained an office in Tokyo since 2010 and operated data centers there since 2011 to serve clients throughout the Asia region. In 2013, it opened an office in Seoul, South Korea, to service its clients and partners there. Last year, Catalyst made its industry-leading e-discovery platform Catalyst Insight available through the Asia data centers, bringing the power of Catalyst's advanced Technology Assisted Review (TAR) and Continuous Active Learning (CAL) to the Asia market.

"We are committed to continuing to strengthen and expand our ability to serve businesses and law firmsthroughout the Asia-Pacific region and we are thrilled to have Dan and Junghun join our team," said John Tredennick, Catalyst's founder and CEO. "As has already proven true in Japan and Korea, we believe that U.S. companies and foreign multinationals in China will benefit from the power of our Insight Predict, which will allow them to carry out self-investigation, investigation response and litigation response in a comprehensive and cost-effective manner."

Catalyst was one of the first discovery companies to provide true multi-language search and review. For nearly a decade, the company has specialized in handling challenging Asian languages, such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

"As our Japan and Korea businesses have continued to show substantial growth, we saw the opportunity to expand our offering to Greater China, where we believe there is the need for a best-in-class, hosted e-discovery platform such as Catalyst Insight," said David M. Sannar, Catalyst's vice president of international development for the Asia region.

Whitaker has lived in Shanghai since 2008 and has held leadership roles in both the software and non-profit sectors. He brings 20 years of sales and market expertise to bear on leading the further expansion of Catalyst's Asia footprint into serving the e-discovery needs of businesses and law firms in Greater China.

Whitaker's experience includes nearly four years as chair of the Information Technology Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce, Shanghai. He played a central role in the thought leadership and advocacy efforts of AmCham Shanghai's IT community in navigating the complex Chinese regulatory and business environment.

Lee comes to Catalyst with more than 14 years of experience in information technology and software sales working for multinational corporations in Korea. He most recently worked for the video-collaboration company Vidyo. Lee lives in greater Seoul and will work out of our office there.

Both Whitaker and Lee will be helping multinationals and local companies involved in investigative and legislative matters take advantage of Catalyst's award-winning e-discovery technology.
