InVision Expands its C-Suite, Adding Fuel to Rapid Growth and Product Development

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- InVision today announced the appointment of Bjorn Freeman-Benson as Chief Technology Officer. Freeman-Benson comes to InVision from his post as Senior Vice President of Engineering at New Relic. Bjorn's addition to InVision's leadership team comes on the heels of another key hire: David Fraga joined InVision as Chief Operating Officer in August, having most recently served as Vice President of Corporate Development at Shutterstock. Both Fraga and Freeman-Benson will help to accelerate InVision's rapid growth and pace of innovation.

These key hires are a part of InVision's evolution from a prototyping tool to a full stack product design platform. After closing a $45 million Series C in June, the company has invested heavily in new features designed to unify the product development cycle and closely connect design stakeholders. Key features released since June include User Testing, Workflow, Design Boards and Presentations, along with a full-featured Slack integration. Additional tools focused on seamless handoff from designers to engineers, advanced animations, and more are currently in beta with InVision customers including design powerhouses Adobe, Airbnb, Etsy, Evernote, Twitter, and Uber.

"InVision's goal is to help teams around the world design better experiences through an end-to-end platform that assists in every part of the design process. We've made incredible strides towards making that a reality," said Clark Valberg, CEO of InVision. "In order to reach that goal we're continuing to invest in a team of exeptional people at every level and in every functional area. The pace at which we're expanding as a business, a team and a platform is extraordinary—it is the perfect time to bring on leaders like Bjorn and David. We're thrilled to have them on our team."

InVision's pace of product innovation is a key driver of the company's rapid growth and expansion, having now surpassed 1.5 million users and tripling annual revenue year-over-year to date in 2015. The company has hired more than 100 people this year, bringing total headcount to 170.

"The kind of growth InVision has experienced in its engineering organization over the last year is astounding," said Freeman-Benson, InVision's Chief Technology Officer. "Leading a team of this caliber to to help the smartest companies in the world design better experiences is an amazing opportunity."

Bjorn spent the last six years building New Relic's engineering organization from 3 engineers to more than 250, through its IPO and beyond. Prior to New Relic, Freeman-Benson worked in various software-related roles at a diverse group of organizations and companies, including Amazon and the Eclipse Foundation.

"Good product design is what sets the companies we love apart from the rest. When done well, it can open up meaningful new possibilities and even improve our lives," said Fraga, InVision's Chief Operating Officer. "Helping millions of teams to create better experiences for the people they serve is an incredibly motivating mission. I'm proud to be a part of the work we're doing at InVision."

David helped Shutterstock to grow by more than 800 percent over the course of his six year tenure, from $50 million in annual revenue to more than $400 million—and through the company's IPO. Prior to Shutterstock, Fraga was a member of the investment team at Insight Venture Partners, where he helped lead investments in companies such as eVestment Alliance and Twitter.
