Guidance Software Announces the Passing of Board Member Stephen RichardsGuidance Software, Inc., makers of EnCase®, the gold standard for digital investigations and endpoint data security, are saddened to report that Stephen Richards, a member of the company's board of directors, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. The Guidance board of directors issued the following statement: "We are shocked and greatly saddened by Steve's passing. He was a visionary leader and a good friend. The company's directors and employees, as well as the many people he worked with and mentored over the years, mourn his loss. We extend our sympathies to his family." Mr. Richards had served as a member of Guidance Software's board of directors since February 2008, having previously been a member of the board from January 2006 until November 2006 prior to taking a role as McAfee (News - Alert), Inc. chief operating officer and chief fnancial officer (CFO). Before joining McAfee, Mr. Richards was the CFO of E*TRADE Group, Inc., where he guided the company through its initial public offering. While on the Guidance board of directors, Mr. Richards acted as the head of the audit committee beginning in 2008, and was a member of the nominating committee and compensation committee. "Steve's experience with high-technology companies was invaluable to Guidance. He would want to know how good a job he did, and in my judgment Steve was the best of the best," said Patrick Dennis, president and CEO at Guidance Software.
