(NASDAQ: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, today announced that it was ranked 8th, out of the 1,267 publicly traded companies that filed a Conflict Mineral Disclosure (CMD) with the SEC for reporting year 2014.  This prestigious ranking was part of the Dodd-Frank Section 1502 – RY2014 Filing Evaluation, which was written by a team from Tulane University and sponsored by Assent Compliance, a New York consulting firm.  Rankings were based on assessed compliance with the U.S. SEC conflict minerals reporting rule, as well as a "good practice" metric.  The independent study was led by Dr. Chris N. Bayer, Ph.D., and a team of researchers from Tulane University that was supported by an advisory panel of industry experts from the IPC, Elm Sustainability Partners, Schulte, Roth & Zabel, KPMG, and Assent Compliance.
