Waffle House Suppliers Announce Third Annual Waffle Wager on Clemson vs. South Carolina Game

Free Waffle House waffles, hashbrowns and coffee will be waiting for the fans of either the Clemson Tigers or the South Carolina Gamecocks as a part of the Waffle Wager 2015.

Basic American Foods, C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc., and Royal Cup, Inc., three Waffle House restaurant suppliers, today announced the third annual Waffle Wager, a friendly bet on the November 28 Tigers-Gamecocks game.

"You can throw out the records when the Tigers and Gamecocks take the field, and when you add in the Waffle Wager, it becomes an even bigger event!" said Walt Ehmer, Waffle House President and CEO. "Good luck to both schools, and like the old saying goes, 'To the victor goes the waffles, coffee and hashbrowns.'"

Fans of the winning team will get the free Waffle House goodness at either a restaurant in Clemson, S.C., or Columbia, S.C. If Clemson wins the game, Royal Cup and C.H. Guenther will provide hashbrowns, waffles and coffee for the fans and if South Carolina wins, Basic American Foods will be stuck with the tab. The "payout" date, time and winning Waffle House location will be announced after the game.

In addition to the free hashbrowns, waffles and coffee, the winning university's general scholarship fund will receive $10,000 to help further the education of its students.

"We are pleased to again be a major partner of the 2015 Waffle Wager for the third consecutive year in a row," said Dale W. Tremblay, President and CEO of C.H. Guenther and Son, Inc. "The Waffle Wager is an exciting way to showcase the partnership between Waffle House, its key suppliers and our love for college football. May the best team win!"

In 2013, Royal Cup and C.H. Guenther initiated the Waffle Wager with a friendly bet on the Alabama vs. Texas A&M game. Alabama's 49-42 victory resulted in C.H. Guenther providing nearly 2,000 free waffles and 1,500 cups of free coffee to Alabama students at a Waffle House restaurant in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Last year, the Waffle Wager tradition focused on the long-standing rivalry of the Auburn vs. Georgia game. Georgia's 34-7 victory over Auburn resulted in Royal Cup providing more than $24,000 in ree waffles, hashbrowns and coffee to Georgia students and fans in Athens, Ga. In addition, Waffle House and the three suppliers donated to the University of Georgia's general scholarship fund.

"Ever since I received that first email from Dale Tremblay, the Waffle Wager has been a thrilling way to celebrate some of college football's great rivalries and pageantry," said William E. Smith, Jr., Chairman of Royal Cup, Inc. "It has been terrific to work with C.H. Guenther and Basic American Foods to support Waffle House and make collective contributions to the winning schools' general scholarship fund."

"We enjoy working alongside our good partner, Waffle House, and its other suppliers to participate in this traditional Southern rivalry," said Mike Villano, Basic American Foods Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "It is very rewarding for our companies to be able to give back to the communities that enjoy Waffle House, through free waffles, hashbrowns and coffee and by providing financial support to students."

All three companies participating in the Waffle Wager supply products to Waffle House restaurants. Basic American Foods supplies Waffle House's hashbrowns, C.H. Guenther supplies its waffle mix and Royal Cup supplies its coffee.
