Brave Software Raises $2.5 Million And Expands Technical Team


SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Brave Software, a technology startup focused on building a safer and faster Internet, today announced it completed a $2.5 million seed round from private investors. Brave was founded by its President and CEO Brendan Eich. Eich previously served as CTO, then CEO of the Mozilla Corporation. Prior to that, he co-founded the Mozilla project and foundation. Eich is also the inventor of the JavaScript programming language.

Brave also announced that Yan Zhu and Marshall T. Rose recently joined the company as senior members of its technical staff. Yan Zhu joined Brave from the Yahoo security team and is a technology fellow at the Electronic Frontier Foundation. She previously worked on the Tor project and at the Freedom of the Press Foundation, where she co-developed the SecureDrop platform. Zhu eceived her Bachelor in Physics from MIT, and was a PhD candidate in Physics at Stanford University prior to creating Privacy Badger for Firefox.



Marshall Rose is a prominent author, implementor, and contributor to open standards at the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in areas that include electronic mail and network management. He is an active open source developer, particularly in the Internet of Things. He also co-founded the first Internet commercial payments system. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine.
