What:

At the exclusive gathering for high-level IT business leaders and their technical teams, the ONUG Fall 2015 conference, Riverbed will demonstrate its current and future SD-WAN solution and how Riverbed's application-focused approach will redefine the market.

The Riverbed SD-WAN solution is a software- and business-defined WAN architecture that delivers superior performance of hybrid applications across hybrid WANs with greater agility and ease, while reducing IT complexity and cost. Riverbed's SD-WAN solution optimizes, controls and secures the delivery of on-premises and SaaS (News - Alert) applications automatically over any network (MPLS and public Internet) to every edge in the hybrid enterprise - remote users, branch offices, clouds, data centers. It leverages the most complete set of network services available and unique application intelligence capabilities driven by intent-based and application-centric global business policies, while providing end-to-end application visibility for validating business policies as well as reporting and troubleshooting.

Riverbed SD-WAN Solution Differentiators:

  • Application Intelligence: Riverbed's SD-WAN solution automatically identifies more than 1,300 applications in flight, including those that are encrypted (SSL/TLS/HTTPS), and characterizes them into groups, such as "Business Real-time," "Business Bulk" and "Recreational Bulk." These groups form the basis for application-centric business intent-based policies that are centrally-managed and locally-enforced at every point in the WAN architecture.
  • Simple Workflows: Riverbed's SD-WAN solution is simple to use - just like its solutions for WAN optimization. The Riverbed solution seamlessly integrates with the customer environment and enhances end user experience via the most complete set of network services such as path selection, network quality-of-service (QoS), secure transport (VPN), application visibility, application policy engine and application optimization. Integrated visibility capabilities ensure that the network continues to deliver performance based on changing business and application needs.
  • Trusted Venor: Riverbed has over 27,000 customers, and is deployed in 98 of the Forbes Global 100 companies. Riverbed not only has the needed intelligence about these networks but also a trusted relationship with their operators to be able to build and expand these networks into new WAN architectures which deliver superior performance of hybrid applications across hybrid WANs with greater agility and ease.

Sneak Preview of Project Tiger

Riverbed is expanding the capabilities and value of its SD-WAN solution with Project Tiger, scheduled for release in 2016. Project Tiger will include a new Internet-native device that replaces the need for traditional routers at remote offices and branch offices. It will operate in conjunction with SteelHead, SteelFusion and SteelCentral to create a complete application-centric approach to WAN architectures. Project Tiger will also include a cloud-based management portal, which will provide zero-touch provisioning and management for all remote locations, even those connected only to the public Internet.

DEMONSTRATION

Riverbed SD-WAN. Application-Defined. Business-Defined.
Riverbed will demonstrate its ability to identify over 1,300+ applications via Deep Packet Inspection, and group them into business-relevant categories called Application Groups. Riverbed's Path Selection and QoS capabilities, that provide performance assurance for Application Groups, will be highlighted with their ability to appropriately route traffic depending on the business-criticality of the Application Group. To showcase a closed loop system, Riverbed will demonstrate its visibility capabilities that allow real-time and historical assessment of end-user experience for on-premises and SaaS applications. Riverbed will also demonstrate the ability to offload video traffic from enterprise networks while still providing a jitter-less experience.

PRESENTATION

Title: The Future of SD-WAN is Application-Defined
Date: Wednesday, November 4, 2015
Time: 1:00 p.m. - 1:20 p.m.
Location: Eisner and Lubin Auditorium
Presenters: Hansang Bae, CTO of Riverbed and Michel Boulay, Chief Network Architect for FM Logistic

Michel Boulay, Chief Network Architect for FM Logistic, created a hybrid and software-defined WAN architecture to manage the performance of applications, not just packets, across the enterprise WAN. In partnership with Riverbed, Michel has delivered a solution that is enabling FM Logistic to accelerate the pace of business growth into new countries and regions where traditional MPLS WAN architectures are prohibitively expensive. With this new approach, FM Logistic has reduced CAPEX and OPEX (News - Alert) costs, while simultaneously improving business agility, reliability and productivity.
