Appalachian Power to Offer Customers Home Repair Service Plans Through HomeServe

HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of home repair solutions, announced an expansion to its agreement with American Electric Power to include homeowners in West Virginia served by Appalachian Power and AEP in Wheeling. HomeServe's Exterior Electric Line service plan will initially be offered to residential customers, as part of a broad set of service plans offered through the new program.

The optional Exterior Electric Line service plans offered through HomeServe shield homeowners from the unexpected expenses and inconvenience associated with emergency repairs to a home's exterior electrical components that connect to the Appalachian Power and AEP electric system. The possible components that can require repair include the weatherhead, riser pipe, insulators, meter base and service entrance cable - and such repairs can arrive as a surprise expense to homeowners, as they are not typically covered by basic homeowners insurance.

"Homeowners can be blindsided by the cost of emergency repairs and surprised to learn that these are not covered by most typical home insurance policies," said Alan Bragg of Appalachian Power. "We are committed to the best interest and well-being of our customers and working with HomeServe to offer protection in these scenarios falls in line with that goal."

Plan holders with HomeServe will benefit from access to its Repair Hotline, a helpline accessible to homeowners 24 hours a day, 365 days a year that ensures qualified service from local, licensed and insured eectricians at their home when necessary. The plan costs $4.99 a month. Appalachian Power and AEP homeowners also will have access to other HomeServe service plans, including coverage for interior electrical lines, heating and cooling systems, and water heaters, all with convenient payment options available directly through HomeServe.

"We are pleased to be extending these optional plans to the customers of Appalachian Power and AEP in West Virginia," said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe USA. "Homeowners should have a reliable and trustworthy partner in the event of electrical or other repair emergencies, rather than having to seek out help themselves and take on the financial burden of the expenses. Our plans deliver the help and timely repairs when homeowners need them."

Customers will be receiving details about the new program in the mail over the coming weeks. For more information, contact HomeServe toll-free at 1-844-874-4446 or visit www.HomeServeUSA.com.
