Appalachian Power to Offer Virginia Customers Home Repair Service Plans Through HomeServe

Appalachian Power (APCo), a unit of American Electric Power (AEP), is pleased to announce a new service program with HomeServe USA, a leading provider of home repair solutions. Beginning this week, HomeServe will be mailing information to APCo customers in Virginia about the new optional program.

The initial service offering available through HomeServe for APCo Virginia customers will be an Electrical Surge Protection plan. The optional Surge Protection plan shields homeowners from the unexpected expense and inconvenience of damage to appliances and electronic equipment caused by electrical surges from lightning strikes and other external forces. The optional plan covers the cost to repair or replace the appliances or electronics that are damaged as a result of an electrical surge. Participating customers will be able to conveniently pay for these plans directly through HomeServe. APCo homeowners also will have access to other HomeServe service plans early next year.

"APCo is pleased to have entered this partnership with HomeServe, which will assist our customers when an unexpected repair need arises," said Alan Bragg, of APCo. "In early 2016 we look forward to expanding the service plan options available through HomeServe to ensure our homeowner customers feel at ease and prepared in the event of a repair emergency."

The affordable service plans available through HomeServe provide APCo customers a etter way to fund and address the expense and inconvenience of home repair emergencies. Contrary to popular misconception, many types of repairs are not typically covered by basic homeowner's insurance policies leaving customers unprepared for the cost of the repairs.

"Homeowners are often unaware of the cost associated with electrical problems until a repair is necessary, leaving them with unexpected expenses," said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe USA. "Not only do these plans provide APCo customers with a solution that helps fund the repair, we also provide a reputable team of local contractors to complete the work, giving homeowners some peace of mind."

APCo customers can learn more about HomeServe's optional repair plans by visiting www.HomeServeUSA.com or calling 1-844-874-4446 for more information.
