NAMIC And WICT To Present Joint Town Hall On Diversity To Address The Results Of Combined Employment SurveyNEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) and Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) today announced the panelists slated to participate in a Joint Town Hall on Diversity. The forum is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the New York Marriott Marquis. The Joint Town Hall is being held as part of cable's Diversity Week, which commences on Monday, September 28, with the 2015 WICT Leadership Conference, followed by the 29th Annual NAMIC Conference and concluding on Wednesday evening, September 30, with the Walter Kaitz Foundation's 32nd Annual Fundraising Dinner. The diversity and inclusion themed week will also feature other events held by cable industry organizations. Highlighting the latest findings of the joint NAMIC/WICT workforce diversity survey, the Joint Town Hall on Diversity panelists will discuss data vital to the advancement of gender and ethnic diversity and inclusion in the cable industry. Underwritten and supported by the Walter Kaitz Foundation, the survey results will comprise findings that will inform the next iterations of the NAMIC AIM (Advancement Investment Measurement) and the WICT PAR Initiative (Pay Equity, Advancement Opportunities, and Resources for Work/Life Integration) reports. Industry executives participating in the Joint Town Hall on Diversity include:
"We are proud to once again collaborate with NAMIC on the delivery of this critical diversity and inclusion research. By gauging where we currently stand, we can better forward our shared mission of strengthening our industry," said Maria E. Brennan, CAE, president and CEO of WICT. "We are pleased to showcase such a strong group of diversity advocates as we examine the survey data and its impact on our industry." Added Eglon Simons, NAMIC president and CEO: "Access to timely, relevant data is invaluabl when making informed decisions that determine diversity and inclusion change strategies. NAMIC is honored to partner with WICT in presenting this very important forum." Launched in 1999, the NAMIC employment survey, formerly entitled, "A Look Toward Advancement: Multi-ethnic Employment in the Communications Industry," offered a baseline of statistics and perceptions about the state of multi-ethnic diversity in the cable telecommunications industry. Renamed the NAMIC AIM in 2011, the report continues to provide rich data utilized by companies to support goals for sustaining a robust pipeline of multi-ethnic talent. Since 2003, the WICT PAR Initiative has measured the status of women employees in the cable industry based on three criteria: Pay Equity, Advancement Opportunities and Resources for Work/Life Support. Combined with a comprehensive advocacy program, PAR helps companies set goals, institutionalize practices, measure progress and achieve results. The PAR Initiative continues to grow more valuable as a resource for measuring and supporting the advancement of women in the cable and telecommunications industry. It is supported by WICT's 20 chapters worldwide and the industry at large. For more information on WICT and the PAR Initiative, visit www.wict.org.
