New App, Sivy, Launches to Increase Civic Engagement

Available now, new app "Sivy" has hit the iOS and Android (News - Alert) market with the mission of increasing citizen engagement in Canadian politics. The app comes just in time for the upcoming Federal Election on October 19th, 2015.

With the input of a postal code upon opening the app, the user gains access to these features on a clean and simple interface:

  • look up candidates in a riding using your postal code
  • raise issues to a candidate
  • track promises made by candidates or party leaders on the campaign trail
  • send private messages to candidates
  • view candidate's live twitter feeds
  • view voting times and locations

The app founders said that because government dissatisfaction is very high, especially now in the current recession, they want to enable peopleto raise their voices and be heard by the politicians representing them in Parliament.

Chris Macleod, a Partner of Cambridge LLP, said "At a time when voter apathy and dis-engagement are at an all-time high and connectivity has brought the world together, this App manages to connect the dots. More voter engagement will be the result. Voters and Democracy are the real winners here."

With Sivy's simple interface, even the technologically-challenged and those who find it difficult to go through the tedious process of contacting their MP, can simply download the app, input their postal code and send their message, right from the palm of their hand.

Sivy's goal is to increase the level of participation in Canadian politics. By creating a mobile app, they hope to make it easier for the average Canadian to be empowered to get involved.

Please visit www.sivy.io for more information, including testimonials and screenshots of the app.
