Clarity Announces Educational Opportunities for Its RetCamTM and HOLOS IntraOpTM Technologies

Clarity (News - Alert) Medical Systems, Inc. (Clarity), a medical device company focused on the manufacture of integrated optical systems for the diagnosis and management of eye disorders, announces two upcoming educational opportunities featuring its RetCamTM and HOLOS IntraOpTM technologies. The company will host a Lunch Symposium on September 4, 2015, during the World Congress of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WCPOS), being held in Barcelona, Spain, from September 4-6, 2015. The lunchtime discussion will explore strategies for the early detection of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) using Clarity's RetCam imaging device. During the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS), being held in Barcelona, Spain, from September 5-9, 2015, Clarity will sponsor an invitation-only wet lab on September 4, 2015, featuring its HOLOS IntraOp Wavefront Aberrometer.

The WCPOS Symposium, titled "Concrete Solutions for ROP Management: The Right Blend of Clinical Expertise, Technology, Vision and Dedication," will be moderated by Dr. Barry J. Linder, Chief Medical Officer, Clarity Medical Systems, and will feature talks by Dr. Anand Vinekar, Head, Departments of Pediatric Retina and Pediatric Visual Rehabilitation, Narayana Nethralaya Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology, in Bangalore, India; Dr. Shuan Dai of the Department of Ophthalmology in the Greenlane Clinical Center, Auckland, New Zealand; Dr. Hajar Saad, a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Director of National Eye Health Program MOH Saudi rabia; and Dr. Thomas C. Lee, Director, The Vision Center Children's Hospital Los Angeles, United States, thus offering a truly global perspective on ROP management. ROP is a potentially blinding eye condition caused by abnormal blood vessel development among premature infants born before full term.

"This symposium will feature the latest information regarding the management of ROP, which, although potentially blinding, is treatable if detected early," said Dr. Linder. "Recent guidance documents from leading ophthalmic professional societies and emerging clinical trial evidence highlight the important role that remote screening with the RetCam plays in facilitating the early identification of treatment-warranting ROP, and so we hope this forum is a way to disseminate information that will help save vision for countless preterm infants."

During ESCRS, Dr. Warren Hill, Medical Director, East Valley Ophthalmology of Mesa, Arizona, and one of the leading experts on IOL power calculations, will discuss IOL selection, intraoperative aberrometry theory, and the HOLOS IntraOp device during an exclusive wet lab. Dr. Hill will address the benefits of the HOLOS IntraOp device, which has been designed to provide physicians with continuous real-time refraction measurement during cataract surgery and is scheduled for commercial release in the United States at the end of September.
