Mercy Hospital Joplin Acquires Eight Toshiba Ultrasounds after Tornado Disaster

After a tornado decimated the hospital only four years ago, Mercy Hospital Joplin in Joplin, Mo., reopened its doors in March with a new, 900,000-square-foot facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Mercy Hospital Joplin, formerly St. John's Regional Medical Center, acquired eight AplioTM 300 Platinum ultrasound systems from Toshiba (News - Alert) America Medical Systems, Inc. to provide the latest in imaging technology for general, cardiology and vascular ultrasound studies.

"Toshiba is unlike any other diagnostic imaging company and has been committed to getting us back on our feet with the right technology for our needs," said Nora Cannon, administrative director, Cardiovascular Services/Imaging, Mercy Hospital Joplin. "Even while we continued to grow and meet our pre-disaster patient volumes, Toshiba was always there to train our new staff. We were also amazed at the image quality of the Aplio 300 Platinum for any studies and its ability to image larger patients."

The Aplio 300 Platinum offers exceptional image quality in a small, versatile platform and features a high-resolution 19-inch monitor. The iStyleTM Productivity Suite, an adaptable user interface, delivers workflow automation tools for faster exams. The Aplio 300 Platinum also includes advanced imaging features, such as Advanced Dynamic FlowTM (ADF), Differential Tissue Harmonics (D-THI), Precision Imaging and ApliPureTM+. In addition, BEAM needle visualization allows for better procedural accuracy and minimal invasiveness, leading to a better overall customer experience.

"Mercy Hospital Joplin demonstrates Toshiba's commitment to putting customers first by giving their staff a worry-free experience so they can focus on what matters most-rebuilding their hospital from the ground up and delivering the best patient care," said Maria Piazza, director, Ultrasound Business Unit, Toshiba. "Mercy opened its doors to not only a brand-new facility, bt one with the industry's latest ultrasound technology, which provides safer, less invasive and more cost-effective care to its patients."
