Schneider's Ride of Pride Truck Embarking on Weeklong Tour of Wisconsin, U.P.

Despite the fact that one of the nation's largest truckload carriers is headquartered in Green Bay, most residents in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula have never gotten up close to one of the company's hallmark orange trucks. This summer, Schneider is changing all that with its Ride of Pride Tour. Over the course of five days in late July, the company is taking to the road and stopping in nine cities so local residents can see the equipment and meet the drivers who haul the goods people buy and use every day.

Schneider isn't sending just any truck out on tour. The company is celebrating the patriotic spirit of the month by showcasing its 2015 Ride of Pride tractor - a military-themed truck that serves as a rolling tribute to members of the military, past and present.

This special truck is driven by Green Bay resident Jay Hull, who served in the U.S. Army for 24 years and completed tours in Iraq, hauling fuel tankers. During his time in the military, Hull was also a recruiter, career counselor and chemical nuclear biological warfare specialist. He will share his experiences on the road - as both a member of the military and a Schneider driver - and why he believes transportation jobs are such a great fit for both current and former service members and civilians alike.

"We have found that those with military experience excel in transportation and have long, successful careers at Schneider," notes Rob Reich, a senior vice president at Schneider and a former member of the U.S. Army. "Schneider's new Credit for Military Experience Program recognizes that service and rewards new drivers with higher starting pay [than other carriers]. Benefits like this are why 27 percent of the drivers we hired this year have military experience, and we have room for more."

The Ride of Pride Tour begins Monday, July 27 in Sun Prairie. From there the Ride of Pride truck travels to Pewaukee, Sturtevant, Oak Creek, Fond du Lac, Appleton, Escanaba, Marinette and Green Bay. A full schedule can be found below.

Attendees will get to see the detailed exterior of the truck and learn about all the bells and whistles that are standard features on Schneider's newest trucks. It's especially noteworthy to point out that this truck is the first Ride of Pride tractor equipped with an automated transmission.

"We're gradually shifting our entire tractor fleet from manual to automated transmission, an upgrade that will make it easier than ever for people to learn how to drive a big rig," said Reich. "There are so many advanced technology features built into these trucks that most folks would never imagine, so this is a really great opportunity for us to show people what the future of trucking looks like - and encourage them to check out these exciting and lucrative careers."

A representative will be available at each event to discuss driving career opportunities at Schneider.
