DMTF Announces Alliance Partner Relationship with the OpenStack Foundation for Cloud Security Standard Integration

The Distributed Management Task Force, Inc. (DMTF) today announced it has entered into an Alliance Partner relationship with the OpenStack Foundation. Both DMTF and OpenStack are committed to cross-body collaboration, integrating existing standards to enhance interoperability for the good of the industry. This relationship initially focuses on standards critical to cloud security, improving cloud auditability to accelerate enterprise adoption.

Addressing security needs and concerns is crucial to encouraging cloud adoption. Potential consumers of cloud deployments need assurance that the security policies they require on their applications are as consistently managed and enforced "in the cloud" as they would be in their enterprise. DMTF's Cloud Auditing Data Federation (CADF) is an open standard that addresses this need by enabling cross-vendor information sharing via its data format and interface definitions. CADF is part of the DMTF's Cloud Management Initiative, which is focused on developing interoperable cloud infrastructure management standards and promoting the adoption of those standards in the industry.

This Alliance Partnership formalizes the positive relationship between the two organizations and builds upon existing work between DMTF and OpenStack - CADF is currently implemented in pyCADF: A Python-based CADF Library, used by OpenStack.

"DMTF is dedicated to working with the open source community to further interoperability among the industry's leading standards," said Jeff Hilland, president, DMTF. "This formal Alliance Partner relationship with the OpenStack Foundation establishes additional linkages and common goals that will help accelerate mutual progress, and we look forward to working together on these important standards."
