Frost & Sullivan Commends SAP's mobile, cloud-based Corporate Ridesharing Solution TwoGo by SAP

LONDON, July 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the corporate ridesharing market, Frost & Sullivan recognises SAP with the 2015 European Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Leadership for its leading-edge corporate ridesharing solution TwoGo by SAP (www.twogo.com). It offers commuters a trusted environment and maximum data security. TwoGo by SAP is the only solution that protects the private data of its users by sharing details such as the user's name, email, mobile number, and license plate only when a ride is matched, unlike competitors that employ a list-based system. The solution is available in 10 different languages.

SAP

TwoGo by SAP was created during an internal programming contest, which resulted in SAP employees being able to share rides, both to and from work. Additionally, it aids in reducing carbon-emissions in enterprises by measuring the miles shared and calculating carbon-emission savings. There are currently 12,000 registered users internally at SAP.

The company has large expansion plans and TwoGo by SAP has already been deployed in SAP offices around the world. Business cases were made to evolve the solution and make it available to other companies. By now, it is successfully launched on the market. It primarily focuses on B2B services, although it also provides a free B2C version.

"TwoGo has received support from SAP's facility management department for helping resolve space constraints and parking issues," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Sanjay Nair. "The company even reserves parking spaces in preferred areas for users of the system. The solution eventually saved about 100 parking spaces at the headquarter in Walldorf, Germany."

Besides Web and App access, TwoGo by SAP incorporates emails and meeting requests so that users can send an invite from their calendar for a ride; it responds to these requests with an automatically matched ride. The solution has a feature wherein, if there is more than one potential ride available, it will supply the user with a list of those rides; however, if there is an optimum match, both driver and user are automatically matched.

The software allows users to state their preferences such as maximum detour time, departure, and arrival times to ensure a satisfactory match. It then employs real-time data or historic traffic-data to predict the exact time of arrival, which is optimised to fit into the user's daily work-scheme.

It incorporates three different settings: driver, passenger, and both. The ratio between the number of drivers and passengers is 50:50; most users sign-up for the third setting that enables them to offer a rid as well as request one. This is a distinguishing feature of TwoGo by SAP, as competing technologies require users to create two different profiles—one as a passenger and another as a driver.

"SAP is a proven, industry player and its innovation, customer base, funding power, and brand name have helped TwoGo by SAP break into different markets," observed Nair. "Moreover, SAP has a large automotive industry practice relating to connected cars and telematics, giving the ridesharing solution a valuable market advantage."

In addition to an innovative product, the company also delivers impressive customer service. It works closely with clients and supports them when they are preparing to go live. As TwoGo by SAP is a cloud-based solution, clients do not have to modify their own IT. User support is available round the clock and in several languages.

TwoGo by SAP is built as a service and SAP sells licenses to enterprises. The company employs the business model of charging per user on an annual basis. For end users, the service is free of charge to encourage them to adopt it. Furthermore, TwoGo by SAP recommends each passenger a 'fair-share' amount to be paid to the driver, setting it apart from other vendors in the market.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated uniqueness in developing and leveraging new technologies, which significantly impacts both the functionality and the customer value of the new products and applications. The award lauds the high R&D spend towards innovation, its relevance to the industry and the positive impact on brand perception.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
