Mushroom Networks Unveils New Rugged, PortaBella™ Appliances for Ultra-Fast Mobile Broadband

SAN DIEGO, June 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Mushroom Networks, Inc., innovators of Broadband Bonding™ technology, today unveiled new versions of its PortaBella wireless broadband bonding appliance—the Portabella 7100i and Portabella 6100iw—designed to provide ultra-fast and reliable mobile Internet over bonded 3G/4G. The new appliances feature up to 6 embedded modems to deliver the fastest Internet connections for mobile applications used in challenging physical environments, and transportation applications such as on trains, buses and specialty vehicles.

Featuring the company's award-winning Broadband Bonding technology, PortaBella appliances provide cost-effective and highly reliable Internet connectivity for mobile locations by bonding together multiple cellular wireless Internet access cards – aggregating performance and increasing dependability.

The Portabella 7100i supports sim slots for 6 embedded modems, and the Portabella 6100iw supports up to 5 embedded modems and a built-in Wi-Fi. Both are built with aluminum extrusion and heavy-duty steel and have IP40 certifications. The sma antenna connectors, M12 Ethernet connectors and the remotely manageable power switch are all designed to operate in challenging installation environments.

The Portabella 7100i and Portabella 6100iw can withstand up to 5 Grms of vibration at 5-500Hz, making them ideal for in-vehicle installations, and they can operate in a temperature range of 40°C ~ +70°C. Both have been certified to met U.S. and European Union standards, including FCC Class A, CE, and various railway certifications.

Even with all these jam-packed features and built-in modems, the appliances are unobtrusive and streamlined. Each weigh under 4 Kgs (8.7 lbs) and measure 244 mm (9.6") (W) x 180.5 mm (7.1") (D) x 65.1 mm (2.56") (H), making them about the same size as a household cable modem.

"Portabella provides reliable, super-fast Internet on the go in places where traditional services are either unavailable or too costly, and the new 7100i and 6100iw are rugged enough to be used in challenging environments such as public transportation or construction sites," said Dr. Cahit Akin, co-founder and CEO of Mushroom Networks. "The new Portabella appliances are powered by Mushroom's latest software-defined networking architecture with Broadband Bonding and WAN Orchestration that intelligently and dynamically boost connectivity and significantly reduce signal outages in real-time," added Akin.
