Vungle Expands Expertise to South Korea's Startup Scene-Providing Global Growth Opportunities Through Data-Fueled In-App Video Ads

Vungle, the way developers put video ads in their apps, has opened a South Korean office to accelerate growth and global expansion for the country's startups through high performance in-app advertising.

Vungle Korea is led by industry heavyweight, Hong Kim, former CEO of Groupon Korea. Kim brings a solid background in startups and finance, along with a passion for growing companies globally to his new role with Vungle.

"South Korea's startups have struggled to connect with users outside their own country," explained Zain (News - Alert) Jaffer, Vungle's CEO and co-founder. "Hong is the perfect choice to lead Vungle Korea as we introduce a whole new in-app video experience to South Korea's startup scene. Users will be delivered non-intrusive, contextually relevant ads that are charged with creativity-leading to an increase in in-app downloads and engaged customers."

Vungle Korea is launching with seven employees and plans to grow to a team of 30 in the next three years. Its Seoul office is located in D.Camp, one of the largest foundations in Korea to support startup activities. The office will leverage the global resources of Vungle including its industry leadig London-based creative arm, Vungle Creative Labs. This team of artists, filmmakers, designers, and interactive specialists create high-impact mobile video ads fueled by science and real-time data. Vungle brings in-depth understanding of what constitutes an excellent mobile ad experience to the Korean market.

"By using video advertising to monetize users, apps like ours can supplement revenue from IAPs without harming the user experience," says CEO Sejoong Kim, CEO of JellyBus, a Seoul-based start-up partnering with Vungle to monetize its mobile game Rush Star. "Vungle's global footprint also allows us to tap into new audiences across the world, while their diverse advertiser relationships ensure we provide a localized, relevant ad experience - which adds up to increased revenue and happy players."

"The huge growth potential in South Korea's tech scene has garnered a lot of recent attention here in Silicon Valley," said Jaffer. "We have been experiencing tremendous growth state-side and look forward to empowering Korea's startups as they compete in the global marketplace."
