HELSINKI, June 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Anna Ronkainen, Chief Scientist at TrademarkNow, has been elected to the executive committee of the International Association of Artificial Intelligence and Law (IAAIL), the company announced today. IAAIL is a nonprofit association devoted to promoting research and development in the field of AI and Law, with members throughout the world. Ronkainen was elected to IAAIL's executive committee at the organization's 15th international conference, held this month in San Diego.

Ronkainen's election to the IAAIL executive committee capped a busy and successful first half of 2015 for TrademarkNow, including:

  • Ronkainen recently finished teaching a college course on legal technology and innovation at the University of Turku in Finland – the first of its kind in Northern Europe.
  • Ronkainen spoke at four legal and technology conferences in the past two months. Ronkainen moderated a table topic discussion at the 137th International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meetingin San Diego, CA. She was a guest lecturer on May 7th at The Program For Legal Tech and Design, based at Stanford University's Institute of Design (d.school). At The 15th International Conference on AI and Law (ICAL 2015) this month, Ronkainen led a CLE session entitled, Software Tools, Automation, and Machine Learning for Practice IPLaw. And she ended her West Coast speaking tour with a presentation at CodeX, the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics.
  • TrademarkNow has already doubled the staff at the company's Kilkenny, Ireland office that opened earlier this year. TrademarkNow's Kilkenny office is located in NewWorkJunction, a shared co-working space in the city known as "The Friendliest City in Europe."
  • TrademarkNow continued signing new clients – corporations, law firms, and branding agencies – including: Haworth Inc., Iovate Health Sciences International Inc., and McDonnell, Boehnen, Hulbert & Berghoff, LLP.
